CUI members support campaign for investment in UK social housing
CUI members Mariana Mazzucato, Dan Hill, and Leilani Farha contribute to the social housing campaign led by UK Housing Charity, Shelter.
CUI members Mariana Mazzucato and Dan Hill among 40 top economists co-signed an open-letter from Shelter (UK housing charity) to the UK Treasury calling for greater investment in social housing.
As part of the same campaign, Mariana Mazzucato contributed an essay to Shelter’s essay collection, Safe as Houses: Why Investment in Social Housing is Great for Us and Our Economy. The essay, titled, Rights-based, mission-oriented housing for the common good, combines excerpts from CUI papers The Right to Housing: a mission-oriented and human rights based approach (co-authored with Leilani Farha) and Modern Housing: an environmental common good (co-authored with Dan Hill).
